NAB Readies New Corruption Reference Against Shehbaz Sharif

Shehbaz Sharif NAB reference

On Saturday, the PM's aide on accountability said that the country's top anti-corruption body NAB has readied a new reference against PML-N President and opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif in the National Assembly for receiving illicit payments during his tenure as a minister of the Punjab Assembly and will file it to the court of law very soon.

Shahzad Akbar, PM's special assistant Shahzad Akbar, while addressing a news conference with Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz, said, 'The evidence of commission and bribery received by Shahbaz Sharif and his sons has been revealed.'

He said 'Being a politician and former public office-holder, Shehbaz is accountable to the people of Pakistan and will have to respond to allegations of corruption in public forums.'

SAPM also demanded that the opposition leader's trial should be conducted on a day-to-day basis on a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Explaining further, Akbar said that Shehbaz had set up fake companies in the name of his employees, which were used for illegal transactions to hide black money.

'The source of his income was sent to Shehbaz and his sons through telegraphic transfer by the poor employees of his companies,'

The PM's aide claimed that Shahbaz's son Salman's close friends and former classmates Nisar Gill and Ali Ahmed were appointed as directors in the Chief Minister's office and were acting as frontmen for the illegal activities of the opposition leader.

Giving information about the fake companies, SAPM said that one of them was named Nisar Trading Concern, registered in the name of Rashid Karamat, an employee of Sharif Feed Mills, and the other, in the name of the father of Khan Traders, Was registered at Shakeel is an employee of Ramadan Sugar Mills.

PM's aide said, 'Documentary evidence suggests that Rashid Karamat, who lives in a slum near Gulberg in Lahore, is a purchasing assistant for Rs 18,000 per month.'

He further claimed that two of Shahbaz's employees, namely Masroor Anwar and Shoaib Qamar, transferred large sums from the accounts of Nisar Trading Concern and Khan Traders to the personal accounts of Sohbaz and his son Hamza and copies of his computerized national identity card. Banks were available with the branches where the amount was deposited.

'The amount was written in Urdu on checks given by contractors and builders, but the companies to whom the money was being deposited were written in similar handwriting in English,' SAPM explained.

When PML-N leader Saiful Malook Khokhar was asked about the check deposited in the account of Nisar Trading Concern, he replied that he had given money for the party fund.

However, SAPM said, the money was transferred to Hamza Shehbaz's personal account.

Akbar said that three days earlier he had made several revelations about taking the bribe to Shahbaz and being involved in money laundering, but the opposition leader had not given any concrete response to the allegations.

'Shahbaz Sharif is in quarantine and will never answer, but some of his colleagues including the former Prime Minister are giving ridiculous explanations.' He said.

'The burden of proof is on the Shahbaz and his sons as billions of rupees are deposited in their personal accounts by employees of the Sharif family, including Masroor Navar and Shoaib Qamar, who are earning paltry amounts.'

SAPM recalled that Mushtaq Chiniwala and his son had agreed to be approvers against the Sarada family in a similar case.

He advised Shehbaz to stay in Pakistan instead of going to London if he is innocent.

Responding to a question, Akbar said that the PTI government is not against any amendments to the NAB Act for its reform, but it will not allow anyone to disrupt the accountability process.

Information Minister Shibli said that apart from the coronavirus epidemic, the country was also facing corruption virus and its eradication was also necessary.

'The virus has robbed national resources and assets like the Avefield apartments in the UK reflect this,' he said. 'The Sharif family has been a major part of it.'

The minister said that until now there was no vaccine for coronavirus, but fortunately, an anti-DOT for corruption virus was available in the shape of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

'The Prime Minister is committed to eradicating this virus from the country.'

Shibli said that the former rulers had built their wealth abroad and left the country in times of crisis.

'Whenever former rulers require medical treatment, they go to the UK, while Imran Khan prefers to undergo treatment from a hospital built by him after falling from a height of 30 feet.'

The minister accused the opposition that the government was incompetent and lacked a strategy to deal with the coronavirus epidemic.

'Are we disabled because we want to feed the poor?' Shibli asked, defending the government's decision to relax the restrictions. 'Are we incompetent because we want opposition leaders corruption to end?'

The minister said that the government is preparing a comprehensive roadmap to meet the challenge of the coronavirus epidemic.
'Despite the economic constraints, the government has announced a huge stimulus package of Rs.2.2 trillion to cushion and provide assistance to every section of society affected by the epidemic.'

Sharing the details of the stimulus package, he said that Rs480 billion was reserved for the business community and exporters while an amount of Rs 570 billion was earmarked to provide relief to the poor.

The minister pointed out that 200 billion rupees to provide relief to daily wage laborers and Rs.150 billion to vulnerable families, Rs70 billion to reduce fuel prices, to ensure the availability of goods in utility stores, Rs. 50 billion and 100 billion to provide relief in payments. Of utility bills.
Under this cash emergency program, Rs.104 billion has been disbursed among families of worth.

Shibli said that all the federal units were taken together to face the situation created by the epidemic.

He said that there was a difference of opinion between the provinces and the Center to reopen public transport but now there has been a fairly general consensus on the matter. 'Policy has been made to allow public transport vehicles to operate again.'

Stressing the need for unity to deal with the epidemic, the minister regretted that the opposition parties had not made any positive suggestions during the National Assembly session convened on their insistence, but instead used it for political point-scoring.

He criticized the PML-N President and the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly for not attending the session.

'Shehbaz's absence reflects his aristocratic mentality. He did not attend the session because he feels that it is only his health and life that matters and assigns this work to his colleagues,' he said.
