The Federal Government of Pakistan on Wednesday said it would imposing a strict second lockdown if the public doesn't follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to protect against the coronavirus.
Speaking at the press conference, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz expressed frustration over the way the people were ignoring security measures after the government eased sanctions, and reiterated that they were increasingly cowardly. Talking about the government's strategy, he said that they are pursuing a very systematic and integrated strategy to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. 'That is why coronavirus cases are lower than we expected,' he said.

The minister said that action would be taken against the mafia which was taking the national economy hostage for its own interests.
Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Farrukh Habib in his remarks said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has exposed the 'mafia' and the money looted by corrupt elements will be recovered and spent on the poor.
Earlier, Asad Omar, the Minister for Planning, Development Reforms and Special Measures, said the government would not tolerate violations of SOPs, which include the spread of Covid 19.
Presiding over a meeting of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the Minister discussed in detail the compliance of SOPs with the Provincial Chief Secretaries. He said the government should send a clear message to the public that it would "ensure compliance with social distance and safety guidelines in public places and high-risk areas at all costs."
The minutes of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) meeting have been approved with a view to ensuring voluntary compliance with SOPs and urging strict administrative action against violators. He added that the NCC was fully supporting the provinces to ensure strict implementation of the security guidelines.
