Prime Minister Imran Khan has seen the world and international community praise Pakistan's smart lockdown strategy against the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
The Prime Minister stated this during the conversation with Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Babar Awan who met Imran Khan in Islamabad on Friday.
Stressing on the need to strengthen the role of Parliament in resolving public issues, Imran Khan said that Parliament should focus on constitutional amendments for the benefit of the people. Prime Minister Khan further said that the opposition should also play its role in the best public interest. Electoral reforms, amendments to the NAB Ordinance, and other issues of interest were discussed.
Babar Awan congratulated the Prime Minister on the report of an international organization that praised Pakistan's strategy for controlling epidemics in COVID-19. Prime Minister Imran reiterated his position that Pakistan could not afford a complete lockdown and that is why he always opposed it. He said that Pakistan was not a developed country that could withstand a month of lockdown, adding that the state could not see people starving to death.
Prime Minister Khan has appealed to the people to strictly follow the SOPs during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays and take part in the strategy of collective sacrifice so that the situation that happened on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr can be avoided.
