The Pentagon has officially released three short videos showing an "Unidentified flying object" captured by US navy pilots that was previously released by a private company.
Videos show that flying objects visible from unknown cameras move faster while recorded by infrared cameras. In two of the videos, service members are in astonishment at how fast things are moving. A voice speculates that it may be a drone.
The Navy first acknowledged the veracity of the video in September of last year. According to Pentagon spokesman Soo Gott, "officially they are now releasing it," to clear up any misconceptions by the public as to whether the footage that was being aired was real, or that there is more to the video
'After a careful review the state department has decided that the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any kind of sensitive capabilities or systems,' Gough said in a statement 'and does not have an effect on any military air space intrusions'
The Navy now has formal guidelines on how its pilots can report when they think they have spotted a potential UFO.
The UFO videos were first released between December 2017 and March 2018 by The Stars Academy of Arts and Sciences.
In 2017, one of the pilots, who saw one of the unknown objects in 2004, told the media that it went in ways he could not explain.
"As I got closer to it ... it accelerated sharply to the south, and disappeared in less than two seconds," US Navy pilot David Fravoer said. 'It was very sudden like a ping pong ball bouncing on a wall. It would hit the other way.'
The Pentagon has previously studied recordings of aerial encounters with unknown objects as part of a closed classified program that was started at the behest of former Nevada fighter Harry Reid. The program was started in 2007 and ended in 2012 according to the Pentagon, as they assessed that there were high priorities that required funding.
Nevertheless, the former head of the classified program, Luis Elacondo, told the news media in 2017 that he personally believed that "there is very compelling evidence that we cannot be alone."
"These planes - we'll call them planes - are displaying features that are not currently within US inventories nor in any foreign inventories that we know of," Allegondo said of those items, Which he researched. He says he resigned from the Department of Defense in 2017 to protest against the secrecy surrounding the program and internal opposition to funding it.
Reid tweeted on Monday that he was "delighted" that the Pentagon officially released the video, but that "it only scratches the surface of research and materials.
The U.S. has to deal with this and the serious national security implications. Serious, scientific attention is required and while some members of Congress are still interested in the issue, senators received a classified briefing from naval officers on an unknown aircraft last summer.
'If pilots in Ocean or elsewhere are reporting flight hazards that hinder or endanger training, then Senator Warner wants the answer. It does not matter if it's weather balloons, little green men. Or is something else entirely' We can't. Tell our pilots to unnecessarily risk their lives, ”said Rachel Cohen, Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner spokesperson.
