The 57-year-old ambassador Du Wei, who arrived in Israel in mid-February, was found dead at his home in Herzliya, north of the city, spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld told Agnes France-Presse.
Rosenfeld told Essen France Presse that police units were present at the location of the crime as a part of the routine process, but there is no investigation into his death.
Du's spouse and son were not with him in Israel. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said it would comment only when it had 'concrete' information.
According to his biography on Du Dubey's website, Du previously served as ambassador to Ukraine.
Haaretz Daily Isreal's largest new agency stated that initial reports said that Du was found dead in his bed and there were no signs of violence.
In it, Israel's emergency medical service Magnon David Edom was quoted as saying that the cause of death was a cardiovascular event. Medical service spokespersons would not provide any official information.
According to an interview with local media in May, Dew made a 14-day domestic quarantine visit when he arrived in Israel due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus.
On April 2, the top-notch Hebrew newspaper, Israel Hume, published an editorial by Du on the subject that 'cooperation is the cure for the virus.'
China and Israel, a strong US ally, have promoted cooperation in high-tech and other fields, prompting Washington to urge Israel to limit Chinese investment in its strategic areas.
In a recent Jerusalem Post comment, Chinese Embassy spokesman Wang Yongjun rejected the claim and called Sino-Israeli cooperation a 'win-win' situation.
