Protests erupted in the United States on Saturday when protesters took to the streets over the death of a black man, as a white police officer was shown kneeling on his neck in a video for breath.

Thousands took to the streets in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Philadelphia on Monday to protest George Floyd's death.

In Los Angeles, police in riot gear attacked a mob on Friday, dispersing several protesters by truck. Conflicts additionally broke out among police and protesters in Chicago and New York, where a few captures were made.

His late afternoon remarks came as crowds began marching through the streets of Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, Miami, Philadelphia, and other cities, chanting "Black Leaves Matter" and "I Can't Breathe." Floyd was heard repeatedly shouting slogans before he died.

Peaceful protests erupted in Toronto as demonstrations spread beyond the US border.

The LA announced a curfew on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. (0300 GMT) to 5:30 p.m., while Atlanta was scheduled to set at 9 p.m. A similar night curfew was imposed in Louisville, Kentucky.

State administration battled the looters with all available law enforcement agencies, special forces, and military.

Minnesota Governor Tim Wallace called in more national security forces Saturday and warned they would crack down on law enforcement after Friday night's violence in the northern state.

Trump has blamed the far left for the violence, which includes mass looting and arson in Minneapolis, saying rioters are disrespecting Floyd's memory.

'We cannot allow a small group of criminals and criminals to tear down our cities and destroy our communities,' he said.

"My administration will stop mob violence. And we will stop it from the cold," he said, adding that the anti-fascist network Antifa, which has become a loose militant group, has been targeted. Accused

Thousands of protesters on the first night of the curfew questioned the police and soldiers who had been deployed.

All major freeways to Manipolis were closed on Saturday night after military helicopters flew over the area after the state was forced into riots, arson, and looting.

On Saturday afternoon, people gathered peacefully on the streets of Minneapolis, chanting Floyd's name and carrying brooms to help clean up shops that had been looted by the violence of the previous night.

Some people placed flowers in front of the store where Floyd was arrested on Monday before his death at the hands of police was recorded in a horrific cell phone recording that has viewed across the globe.

"Our community is booming, with people cleaning the streets instead of looting," said Nicole Crust, 41, owner of a broken beauty salon.

Crust echoed officials who said the most noticeably awful violence was from outsiders, yet included a key topic of the protests. 'Police brutality must be stopped.'

Walls warned protesters were out of the 8 a.m. curfew "dangerous situation".

African American and other Manipolis community leaders urged local residents to stay home Saturday night, as the curfew has been extended to several cities in the state.

In the Harlem neighborhood of New York, hundreds of people gathered one afternoon to give a speech on racism. Later in the afternoon, the crowd increased to thousands and they started marching through the streets.

"We're not turning a blind eye anymore. Black lives make a difference. They'll always make a difference. And today we're here to show that," said makeup artist Melissa Mock, who works in Miami during the day. Thousands took part in the protest.

The Minneapolis police officer who was accused of killing Floyd was expected to be arrested, and protests will continue over the weekend after he was charged with third-degree murder on Friday.

Demonstrators shouted and chanted for hours outside the White House in Washington that night as Trump sat in the middle of the Coronavirus epidemic, the most serious occupation of civil unrest during his presidency.

The video shows the officer, Drake Chauin, pressing Floyd's knee on his neck for about nine minutes, until the man became immobile, while three other officers assisted, Floyd's family and Many protesters demanded more arrests and harsher charges of murder.
