Indian Mitron app competitor to TikTok is connected to Pakistani software company

Indian Mitron app competitor to TikTok is connected to Pakistani software company

According to News18, the Mitron app, which is gaining popularity in India as an alternative to TechTalk, was allegedly developed by Shivank Agrawal, a student at IIT Roorkee. Prepared by Pakistani based software company Qboxus.

Mitron is a short video sharing app with nearly 5 million downloads on Google Play Store in just one month. The app's source code, UI, and features are made in Pakistan, and the Indian buyer code is sold to Canon for just $ 34.

'We were paid for the script, and the buyer has every right to use it. There is nothing wrong with what the developer has done,' said the founder and chief executive of Quebec. 'People have referred to it as an Indian-made app, not specifically because they haven't made any changes.'

The developers of Metron just changed the logo and uploaded it to their store. In general, buyers of any script or source code make changes and make their own before launching the purchasing apps.

While it is not illegal to buy the source code of the app, the approval of Mitran as an Indian app to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Local for Local' approach and act as an alternative to Tik Tok has been disappointing. Gives up and comes out like a shock.

According to reports, Quebec suggested offering to host user data on its servers, however, Mitron chose to keep user data on its servers. That said, there's no word on the app's privacy policies and how user data is used. The promoter behind ShopKiller eCommerce, the Micron app, also did not provide any information on the app.

The Mitron app is in direct competition with the Chinese-born Tik Tok app, which has faced some backlash when a video promoting acid attack was published in India.

The Mitron app is not the only duplicate tick-tock app that Quebec offers. There is a list of more apps like 'Follow', Children's Talk, and Hot Tux which were released in the same year 2019. The list doesn't end there, which includes a number of other popular apps or clones created by corporates which include Hashgram Instagram, Foodies Single Restaurant (Zomato) and TicTic (TikTok).

'We wanted to be in stealth mode, and didn't want people to understand us by our name,' the promoter of the Maternal App Shop Killer eCommerce revealed in response to the media.

However, there is still no accurate information on what is being done to the user's data. Then e-commerce did not provide any relevant information about the Mitron app's privacy policy, or with such little details about the app. No relevant info was found on this topic.

People who are unaware and have already downloaded the app should know that this is not privacy policy. Also, it does not invite tons of permissions on your device. However, Google Play claims that it requires access to your photos, internal storage, camera, microphone, flashlight, and other permissions. Need to stop, run preview access, and much more.

This raises the question of why there is no privacy policy and why the developer does not know how to ensure that the user's information is secure and not sold to an unknown source.
