While there have been a lot of leaks around the new iPhone 12 lately, the latest from well-known leaker Max Weinbach offers a new description that really means a lot.
Sharing this information with the YouTube channel EverythingApplePro, Weinbach claims that Apple's iPhone 12 Pro will feature the same high 120Hz refresh rate 'Pro Motion' display technology that will be featured in this year's new iPad Pro model.
In practice, this would mean that a new iPhone would pack features that would only activate when needed, playing games or browsing the web designed to use higher refresh rates, making such applications feel much more smooth and responsive.
Given that this year's iPhone 12 models are set to be 5G capable, it makes a lot of sense that the combination of faster connectivity and 120Hz display will significantly affect battery life.
To resolve this issue, Weinbach claims that the iPhone 12 Pro will include a bigger 4,400mAh battery - a significant step from the 3,969mAh battery inside Apple's iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Camara Upgrades and Improved Face ID
Alongside the above display and battery claims, Weinbach also suggests that Apple's upcoming phone will also get an improved Face ID sensor that will permit users to unlock their phones from a wide variety of angles.

Also, Weinbach says the iPhone 12 Pro's rear camera will also get an upgrade of it's own, strengthening the previous gossip that asserted the phone had a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanner for improved autofocus and upgraded experiences, which we first saw on the iPad Pro 2020.
According to Weinbach, the iPhone 12 Pro will feature smart HDR functionality for 3x optical zoom, along with improved low-light performance - an increase from the 2x zoom capability featured in the iPhone 11 range.
Why these leaks could be real
Every year while paring through iPhone rumors, the difficult task is deciding on their veracity - Apple has the scale and resources to do a huge job in the world of phones, but it's always about balancing the functionality while allowing it to maintain the desired profit margin.
To that end, upgrades are rarely things that no other brand has done, which is already using technology, has been over-refined (ideally), and proven elsewhere in its lines is.
The assumption is that the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max models - likely to be 6.1- and 6.7-inch phones, respectively - all fit well in that model to get an upgrade to the Face ID sensor, camera, screen, and battery.
A better camera allows Apple to sample some of the industry's headline features - such as a longer and more powerful zoom from the camera in a bid to match Samsung and Huawei, as well as improved medium-to-portrait mode as well as more noticeable improvements such as depth sensing.
Rumors of an improved HDR mode also make sense to allow for smoother and less grainy night shots, but we'd be shocked if Apple's new chipset didn't pack some better image processing, so chances are always on the roadmap.
The 120Hz capacity may not seem like much, but they are becoming a standard feature on flagship smartphones in the likes of the OnePlus 8 Pro, and using it on the right app will help save battery when it is needed.
The smaller notch is something that has been suggested for months, but the important thing is that Apple is now rumored to improve the range of Face ID via hardware, which will speed up scanning and remove pain points for its users. which is not anything major, but fits the kind of upgrades that Apple usually does.
Of course, these leaks are far from certain - there are usually several versions of a new iPhone in prototype form that exist before the final model is seen, and in the current environment it is more about being to mass manufacture the phone at the speed needed to be able to hit the expected deadline iPhone release window of September 2020.
