The team of the famous aircraft manufacturing company, Airbus, will arrive in the southern port city on Monday to investigate the crash of one of its own built aircraft.
A Pakistan International Airlines plane crashed on a narrow residential road in Karachi on Friday, causing severe damage to homes in densely populated areas. Of the 99 people on board, 97 were killed and only two passengers survived.
Airbus will run an independent investigation into the possible causes of the crash, which was allegedly caused by an engine malfunction.
Due to the arrival of the Airbus team, the transfer of goods from the incident site has been stopped. In an earlier letter, the Airbus team stated that they did not have any conclusive details about the accident.
Pakistan International Airlines and Air France will also assist the aircraft manufacturer in the investigation. The PK-8303 tragedy has become the third most devastating aviation disaster in the history of Pakistan.
In a recent letter issued on Sunday to all airlines operating the A320 aircraft body jet, Airbus said it would provide full technical support to PIA, Air France, and engine manufacturer CFM International after the crash.
The company also expressed its condolences and solidarity to the families of those killed in the accident. It states that the registration and manufacturer number of the aircraft were APBLD and 2274 respectively. The aircraft was delivered to the PIA in 2014 and had completed 47,100 flight hours and 25,860 flight cycles until its crash.
