China says Indian Troops Deliberately Crossed LAC and Violated Agreement

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lijian Xiao said on Saturday that Indian troops stationed in the disputed Galvan Valley had crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) earlier this week in violation of an agreement between Beijing and New Delhi. As a result, more than 20 Indian soldiers were killed.

On June 15, at least 20 Indian soldiers were killed and more than 70 wounded in a violent confrontation with Chinese troops in the Ladakh Valley. Rival armies have been wreaking havoc on its border for decades, but it was the worst confrontation since 1967 five years after China brutally humiliated India in the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

In a series of tweets, Xiao said that India's front-line troops violently attacked Chinese officers and soldiers who had gone there for talks, thus "causing severe physical conflict and casualties."

Giving a step-by-step account of the Galvan clash, the spokesman said that for many years, the Chinese border forces have been on patrol and duty in the area.

'Since April, Indian border forces have built unilateral and permanent roads, bridges, and other facilities on the LAC in the Galan Valley. China has represented and protested on several occasions, but India went even further and provoked the LAC to cross.'

'On May 6, Indian border troops crossed the LAC, revolted on Chinese soil, erected fortifications and barricades, preventing Chinese border troops from patrolling,' he added.

'They provoked (Indian troops) to try to unilaterally control and change the management situation,' Xiao said, adding that the Chinese border forces had to respond to the situation on the ground and strengthen the administration. Necessary steps were taken to create and control in the border areas.

Xiao added that in order to reduce the situation, China and India have been in close contact through military and diplomatic channels.

'As a reaction to the strong pressure of the Chinese side, India agreed to withdraw the personnel crossing the LAC and demolish the facilities, and so they did,' he said.

The spokesman added that on June 6, the border forces met at the commander level and agreed to reduce the situation. He said India had promised not to cross the Gwadar River warehouse to build Gwadar and facilities. The two sides will discuss and decide on a phased withdrawal of ground troops through officials.

'Surprisingly, on the evening of June 15, Indian frontline troops, in violation of the agreement, arrived at the commander-level meeting, once again deliberately crossing the LoC for provocation when the valley The situation in Galan was already easing.' Zhao shared.

He added that India's front-line troops even violently attacked Chinese officers and soldiers who had gone there for talks, leading to severe physical clashes and casualties.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that there was no encroachment on India's borders after more than 20 Indian soldiers were killed and 70 wounded.

'No one has crossed our border, no one is there now and our posts have not been occupied,' Modi said.
