Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse to be visible in major Pakistani Cities on June 21

The ring of fire eclipse will be observed on June 21, 2020, and will be visible in major Pakistani cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and some other major cities in the country, Pakistan Meteorological Department said in a statement.

According to the PMD's Climate Data Processing Center, 'a ring of fire eclipse occurs when the moon covers the center of the sun, leaving a visible 'outer ring' of fire around the moon. 

A partial lunar eclipse will begin at 8:46 a.m. and end at 2:34 p.m., while the full lunar eclipse will occur at 11:40 a.m.

The information provided in the statement indicated that eclipses are likely to occur at different partial levels in different cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Sukkur, and Gwadar, only in Sukkur to full the eclipse at 98.78% sun coverage.

The Meteorological Data Processing Center added that the minimum solar coverage in a lunar eclipse would be 74.88% percent in Gilgit.

The PMD noted that the eclipse would also be visible in some parts of Africa. These include the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Ethiopia, as well as India and China.
