Oppo is putting a 48MP Camera and 5,000mAh Battery into their New Budget Smartphone

Oppo is putting a 48MP Camera and 5,000mAh Battery into their New Budget Smartphone

The budget smartphone line of phones is beginning to gain a lot of ground to the general public and Oppo wants to get in on that market.

It has just introduced an entry-level A72 phone that promises some robust features for a minimum amount of specs. It revolves around a 6.5-inch, 1080p display with a perforated punch 16-megapixel selfie camera, but the star of the show is a 48MP main rear camera with 8MP ultra-wide-angle cam and 2 2MP portrait based sensors.

We've found OPPO's budget camera quality to be just fine, but within its price range it should be acceptable and to improve low light shots Ul will create an Ultra Night Mode 2.0 in which bright spots Light cannot be found in light.

The A72 can also be a longevity winner. It uses a Snapdragon 665 processor with only 4GB of RAM, but it has a 5,000mAh battery that is not yet common in recording devices. The combination of a modest CPU and a large power pack can work in your favor if you need to keep going all day.

There are far more obvious compromises than performance. You'll still get 128GB of storage (it's expandable), a stereo speaker, an NFC, and a fingerprint reader.

As is often the case, some important context is added to the price. The A72 is available in the UK for 21 9219, or around $269. You are making a lot of money. Unlike some of Oppo's previous phones, there are no plans to officially launch them in the United States. It is not that you will be left wanting. Oppo's sister brand OnePlus is preparing to release its own budget smartphone line, and it won't be a surprise if features of the A72 carry over to those phones.
