Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb has tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to the former interior minister, Aurangzeb's mother has also tested positive for the virus and wishes her a speedy recovery.
In a tweet today (Tuesday), senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said, "My prayers for the speedy recovery of Maryam Aurangzeb and her mother from Corona." Amen! she is the bold voice of the party. We are all proud of their valuable contribution.
Aurangzeb is the latest politician to test positive for the virus.
Family sources told media that on Monday, Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and PTI MNA Jaya Prakash, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi tested positive for the coronavirus.
On Sunday, PPP MPA Sharjeel Memon announced that he had tested positive for the coronavirus and had gone into isolation.
Memon is the Sindh government's focal person for the coronavirus in Hyderabad and a few days ago he also attended a meeting of the provincial assembly.
Last week, PML-N Punjab Assembly member Mian Naveed Ali from Pakpattan tested positive for the coronavirus.
Earlier, Minister of State for Narcotics Shehryar Afridi had also tested positive for the virus, which has been added to a long list of lawmakers in Pakistan to deal with the coronavirus. PTI Chief Whip in the National Assembly Amir Dogar also tested positive for the coronavirus.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, ANP Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani, and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser tested positive for the coronavirus. After which they went into quarantine.
Shaheen Raza, a member of the PTI Punjab Provincial Assembly (MPA), was the first lawmaker in the country to fall victim to the virus.
MPA of PTI Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel & MPA of PML-N Shaukat Manzoor Cheema both died in the hospitals this month due to breath issues while being put on ventilators.
