Bollywood's biggest superstar Sushant Singh Rajput has been found dead in his Mumbai apartment.
The 34-year-old is believed to have committed suicide, Mumbai police said.
Famous for his performances in both TV and film, Rajput is perhaps best known for MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, where he played the role of a legendary cricketer.
Many are paying tribute to the Rajputs, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called him ' a bright young actor who passed away too soon.'
Rajput died just days after the death of his former manager.
Raised in the eastern territory of Bihar, Rajput dropped out of a university course in engineering to seek a profession in showbiz and acting.
Rajput's hit film in Bollywood came in 2013 with the film 'Kai Pochi', which was acclaimed at the Berlin Film Festival.
The actor's last film was Chhachhur, which was released last year. The film's director Nitish Tiwari said he had spoken to Rajput last week.
'I am at a loss for words. I spoke to him last week through text messages. We would message each other every constantly and this is what I hear now. He was younger than me, he was like a brother,' he told the media.
In his last post on his 3.2 million Instagram followers on June 3, Rajput posted a picture of his late mother, who died in 2002, when he was a teenager, according to PTI.
'The blurred past is evaporating with tears,' he wrote.
Rajput's former manager, Disha Salian, 28, died earlier this week after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai.
In an Instagram story after his death, Rajput wrote: 'This is such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha's family and friends. May your soul rest in peace.'
Bollywood fans all over the world will mourn his death as well as the recent deaths of other legendary actors like Rishi Kapoor and Irfan Khan.
