PM Imran Khan said Pakistan cannot undergo another lockdown as Covid-19 tally jumps upto 90,000

PM Imran Khan said Pakistan cannot undergo another lockdown

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday gave a special television briefing to the Corona Relief Tiger Force, asking them to spread awareness to people in remote areas of the country, as "Pakistan cannot go through another lockdown." ۔

'This country cannot do another lockdown. That is why we need to make you aware,' the Prime Minister told members of the force.

The Prime Minister's briefing came at a time when the number of infections in the country has crossed 90,000 and the death toll has risen to more than 1,800.

Acknowledging the enthusiasm of the volunteers so far, he said the force would now be provided with identity cards so that they could go to the hotspots and distribute food if the areas were closed. ۔

The prime minister said the force would also be called in to deal with locust attacks.

Prime Minister Imran said that another challenge was needed to help the youth force in the "Clean and Green Pakistan" initiative which would seek their full participation in tree planting.

He said that not only trees would be planted in forested areas where tree cover has been depleted but also in urban areas.

Tiger Force will also "monitor utility stores" where they will report price increases and inform management about stockpiles.

'Your main goal is to keep our people safe and to help them. We will keep you informed of further duties.'

The Prime Minister said that he appreciated the work of 175,000 workers out of more than 100,000 registrants. 'Those who participated in the government and helped the government.'

'We needed a force that could reach out to people and tell them how important it was to follow SOPs as we gradually eased the lockdown,' he said.

'We need them to look at the implementation of SOPs that were conditional on the recovery of the economy.'

He said that enforcing SOPs is the responsibility of business managers and owners and the volunteer force has to ensure that safety protocols are followed. 'Not everyone understands what the coronavirus is and why we need to be careful.'
