LG reveals it's next generation Valvet smartphone ahead of its upcoming launch on May 7, 2020.

The upcoming LG Velvet will be the company's next mid-range smartphone and is set to replace the flagship G series. The launch is still a week away, but LG has gone ahead quickly and revealed all the specs and some pictures of the device.

LG Velvet will be officially launched online only on May 7, and the device will be available in South Korea from May 15. We don't know what else there is to know about the Velvet as LG revealed a lot about the phone through their website

It is not currently clear when and what - LG Velvet will arrive in other markets outside South Korea. We may know those details on May 7, but are not sure what the company will say.

The LG Velvet will come with a 6.8-inch Full HD + OLED panel with a 20.5: 9 aspect ratio. The phone itself is 6.8 mm thick and comes with a '3D arc' design which essentially means that the edges of the phone are shown with a curved display.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, which offers 5G connectivity. It will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which can be further expanded with a microSD card.

LG Velvet will sport a triple camera setup with 48MP primary shooter, 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP depth sensor. It will also have a 16MP front facing selfie shooter.

This is why the company is calling a 'waterdrop' design, which you can see in the image below. It looks like a drop of water.

LG Velvet will use pixel binning technology to combine 4 pixels into one during shooting in low light environments. If it works well, it should improve photography in dark places.

There is also a 'voice out focus' feature that allows you to adjust individual background noise and voice individually while shooting video. An ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) recording feature for video recording will also enhance the sensitivity of the phone's two microphones to deliver crisp audio output.

At the bottom of the phone is a 4,300mAh battery with fast-charging wired via USB-C port, plus the phone has 10GB wireless charging. The device also supports several accessories such as the company's own dual screen and stylus pens, which are sold separately.

LG will also pack in stereo speakers and AI sound to enhance the velvet video experience.

AI Sound automatically analyzes the media content being played and determines optimal audio quality. LG Velvet will be available in four color options - Aurora White, Aurora Gray, Aurora Green and Illusion Sunset.

When we hear more, we'll be sure to bring you more on LG Velvet on May 7, and if we hear any details about its worldwide release.
