Bollywood Legend Amitabh Bachchan Approached by Google Maps for Voice Navigation

It seems that Bollywood Legend Amitabh Bachchan may soon become the voice of Google Maps. According to a report published on Midday, Google has already sent an offer to Bachchan.

'Amitabh Bachchan has the most influential and recognizable voice. Therefore, it is the best choice for Google Maps Voice. It has been contacted, but the agreement has not yet been signed,' said an unnamed source close to the matter.

With his influential voice and strong linguistic command in both Hindi and Urdu, Bachchan could be the equivalent of Karen Jacobson, a South Australian-born New York-based entertainer, whose voice is usually heard when navigating the road.

Given the current situation with the implementation of social distance measures in India, if the actor agrees, he will record his voice at home. He has reportedly been offered a large sum of money.

'Now it is up to Bachchan,' the source said.

This is not the first time a Bollywood superstar has spoken on Google Maps. Two years ago, under an agreement between the company and Yash Raj Films, Aamir Khan's character, Farangi, was added to Google Maps for the movie Thugs of India.

Meanwhile, Google has developed a set of new features in its Maps app to help more travelers keep up to date with all the information related to the COVID-19 area and transit. It will now show users how the transport lines are, draw alerts from local transit agencies, display alerts at the COVID-19 checkpoints while driving, and more. While some are in India, they will soon make their way to the country very soon.
